November availability updated
As you may have seen in previous posts, we need to limit our new memberships to avoid over crowded classes. We had 16 spots available for November. As of 11/15/2010, we only have 10 memberships left.
Remember, we will not be accepting new members during the month of December. If you want to dance with us during 2010, you need to get your membership a.s.a.p.
Our 3 month membership is on special for 2 for 1. When you split the cost with a friend, it's only $49.50/month per person for a short three month commitment. This is truly a great deal!!! This special is not available through our online store.

Pole dancing on the Trya Banks show!
Felix Cane was featured on the Tyra Banks show. What a great opportunity to showcase pole dancing as an art vs. stripping. Watch the short segment below to see what an incredible thing pole can be:
They got punked!
An intro to pole class usually consists of a warm up, basic technique discussion, a few spins, and maybe a short routine at the end. A pole studio called Choice Training decided to prank a bunch of new students in their intro to pole class. I feel so sorry for the women who thought this was an actual pole class!!!! Watch the whole thing. The last minute of the tape is priceless :)

Pole dance combinations class
I look forward to teaching this class every single week. In pole dance combinations, we teach you how to put moves together to music to create pole routines. This week, the dance was lyrical and slow. Next week, you can expect an up beat dance that will have your heart rate way way up!!!
Shay and Tiffany were kind enough to allow me to film them. Thank you so much!!! You guys did way awesome. Enjoy!

We are almost to capacity!
As you may have noticed, class sizes are very large. As a result, we are forced to move to a new system of limited memberships. We can only take new members when older memberships expire. Here are the projected memberhsip availability for the next four months:
November availability: 16 openings
December availability: 0 openings
January availability: 20 openings
February availability: 14 openings
If we reach capacity, potential students will be put on a waiting list until the next openings are available. I apologize for the inconvenience, but in order to keep the current members happy with managable class sizes, we need to limit the incoming members.

October student of the month!
Drum roll......
October student of the month for Ogden is Davina Wong!!!
Davina has been dancing at the studio for about a year. She has worked very hard at the aerial silks and has performed at several recitals and events. AND, this month, she became an official employee of the studio. I believe that the best students eventually make the best teachers and Davina is proof. Go Davina!
October student of the month for Midvale is Britney Breitweiser!!!
Britney has only been on the pole for a few short months but has already become amazing. She is planning to compete in December's pole competition in the advanced division. Britney and her friend Mckell also write a special blog that covers their journey's of learning how to pole dance. For her fast paced growth and her excitement about the studio, she has been named Midvale's student of the month.

Prodigy!
Every once in a while, a student steps into these doors and amazes me. This time however, it is two girls who have me blown away. Angie and Jessica are gymnists who found their way into the Midvale studio. One has the legs of a goddess and the other is super duper strong. They were in my intermediate class tonight after taking only one beginners class, and they soared through the material. Every move I threw at them, they conquered with ease on their first try.
I told both of them that they should take pole very seriously and do as well as they can. They could be very strong competitors at a national level in the very near future given the right training.
I am soooooo excited! Next time I see them I'm taking video :)

Pasties!
I'm trying to raise money for my hippie wedding :) I have some hand made pasties that I spent all day making and I'm selling them to help pay for our plane tickets to San Diego where we will be getting married in December. So, if you want to surprise your man, come grab a pair from either studio. They come in a cute bag for storage and the application glue is included. $10

Tip of the week
This aerial silk tip of the week comes from instructor Annie Dickson.
#1 For cosmetic and safety purposes, keep ankles in line with your body. Ankles should be straight and not sickled. This can cause unnecessary falls and it can make your moves look lazy.
#2 Attend open aerial whenever you get the chance. Just one hour of extra practice each week will allow you to progress much faster.
#3 Listen to your body! Don't do more than you are able. If your arms are too worn out, stop, climb down, and try it again in 10 minutes.
#4 When performing a routine, always use a crash mat! Even professional dancers miss steps and occaisionally have a big fall in front of a crowd. Safety should be number 1!
