Please be courteous!

We have a situation at the studio that needs to be addressed:

Many of the students are signing up for a class and then they don't show up.
Today, for example, we had 14 women signed up for a Pole Fitness 1.0 class and only two showed up. There was a wait list for this class with 4 or 5 women who couldn't RSVP for the class because it was booked full.

If you can't attend class, please take yourself out of it. And, when you make your scheudle for the week, don't sign up for classes you know you won't be able to make.

Don't be a class hog :)

Thank you so much. We have a bunch of students and only so many classes. Please think of others when making and keeping your class schedule.

Corde Lisse Workshop

Megan,

The Midvale Studio looks awesome!!! I love the extra tall ceilings and you are so right about the changing room. The posts on the blog sure don't do it justice.
The Corde Lisse work shop was absolutely fantastic. Shay, Shaylie and Tiff and I has so much fun. I was really nervous before it started, but shortly after had so much fun. The hour flew by I wanted to just keep going.
It was great thank you so much for recruiting her to teach us. I took a few pictures to show you how much fun it was.

Can't wait for Friday and the lap dancing class.

Megan, you are doing great with Club Blue and I am so happy to be apart of it.

Thank you,
Ricki

Thanks to everyone who came out for this ground breaking workshop. We also need to thank Becca Butcher for introducing us to Allie Cooper. Staff at the studio is very excited about this new style of aerial dance and we hope to continue our education with it and hopefully offer Corde Lisse classes in the near future.

Insecure.

Since the age of 15, I have felt very insecure about my body shape, my hair (which I cut off at any sign of stress), and my freckles. As I grew up, stretch marks, cellulite, pant size, and acne added to my insecurities.

There are only four things in this world that make me forget all of my insecurities:

1. My four year old daughter who thinks I am 100% perfect.

2. My fiance' who builds me up every single day.

3. My circle of friends who have stayed true even through girl drama nonsense and mood swings.

The last blessing is one that I take for granted on a daily basis. It is my ability to dance. Without it, I would have no outlet for stress and I wouldn't be able to express myself. I am constantly moving. When I'm driving, I dance with my tongue...try it!

In all seriousness, I have never felt insecure when it comes to dance. I know I have flaws. But to me, it is beautiful no matter how it looks. I know people feel me when I dance because I feel them when they dance.

I started think of all of this because the new season of "So You Think You Can Dance" starts next week and it always makes me cry when I feel someone so deeply through the television that my emotions get the best of me.

Dance is everything to me and I am so thankful that I get to breath it every single day.

Midvale studio...almost there!

Our new studio, Pearl by Adult Dance & Fitnss, will be opening next week. We have a few more minor touches before it will be complete. Check out our progress:

Pole room, poles get hung tonight!

Aerial room. 21 foot ceilings!

Our sexy red dressing room. The picture does not do it justice :)

Our pink lobby. Empty today, but furniture arrives tomorrow!

I did it!

I, Meagan Chapman, should be better at the aerial silk considering that I own the studio....however, this apparatus has given me quite a few sore muscles, burns, and stress over the last year. However, last week, I finally did my inverted splits!!!!

Miss USA is a pole dancer!

Miss USA 2010 was just crowned and it seems she has quite the controversial past. Apparently, she has taken some pole dancing classes and even hopped on stage at a club fully clothed and made a few hip circles! OMG!!!!!

Here is an internet article breaking all the scandal:

Well, that didn't take long.

Within hours of Rima Fakih being crowned the new Miss USA, photos surfaced of Rima competing in a "Stripper 101" pole dancing class and competition sponsored by a Detroit radio station in 2007.

The photos have actually been on the station's website for three years, but came to new light after a celebrity news website inquired about them after Rima was crowned on Sunday.

The station has also been contacted by Miss Universe pageant reps who wanted to know if any more pictures like that exist of Rima.

Mojo, the host of the show that sponsored the pole dancing class, says he hopes that the incident will not result in Rima losing her crown.

"It would be foolish to consider anyone other than Rima to represent the USA. The photos taken from our website are no more provocative than those on the Miss USA website," he said.

He's right. The only thing missing from those "official" sexy lingerie photos the Miss USA pageant took of the 51 contestants this year was the cash stuffed in their bras.

Tuesday night at Blue.

This is why we dance.

I had a new student come in today for her very first class. She walked in and I could tell that she was extremely nervous. She's a newly single lady probably in her 30's or 40's. I introduced myself and gave her the tour of the front half of the studio. She still seemed very unsure that this place was for her.

When women think of dance classes, they automatically think of children or teens. Once high school or college ends, most women write off dance altogether and that's what this woman had done to herself.

On the last half of the tour, I took her to our back dance room where we hold our pole and aerial classes. Immediately her face lit up. There was a class going on that included two other women in their 40's. I could tell that she really really wanted to open up and become her true self. She left with a huge smile on her face.

We should never have to apologize for being adult women who just want to shake our stuff. Dance is a natural gift that everyone posesses and we deserve to dance through our entire life.

I hope I see this lady again and I hope we can prove to her that it's okay to be a sexy woman and it's okay to love to dance. I can't wait to watch her morph into the woman she was always meant to be.

I taught this wonderful Pole fitness 2.0 class the other night and I just love this group of ladies. Most of them have only been with the studio 3 months, but they are already looking like a pro. Check out their favorite moves below:

And this little Mama is 5 months pregnant and still workin' that pole. Go girl!

Why I love pole fitness.

1. It gives me something to look forward to every day.
2. The students and teachers in class don't judge me and I have made lots of friends.
3. I have never had so many bruises that I was so proud of.
4. It's my little secret that I hide from my job and my mother in law.
5. I am losing weight faster than I ever have.
6. I get to feel like I live in New York everytime I walk into the studio.
7. I can do a scorpio, a ayesha, and a superman.
8. My self esteem and confidence are through the roof.
9. I'm not afraid of my sensuality anymore! My husband is so happy.

I'm so glad that I gave your studio a try Meagan! I don't know where I would be without the confidence I have gained. Thankyou thankyou thankyou!!!

Tonight's belly dancing class.

Nahala taught a wonderful belly dancing class tonight. She actually had the students start their combination kneeling on the ground. I love this idea! These five ladies were the only ones who were willing to be on camera, but the actual class had over a dozen ladies in it tonight. Wow!

This combo can be learned by any student. Beginners to advanced levels are always welcome to join our belly dancing class at anytime.

Good Things Utah

Our studio was given the opportunity to film a few segments for Good Things Utah this morning and we had such a good time. It will be aired next Thursday on their morning show. We love showing women exactly what it is we do here in the studio and this talk show is just the place to educate the women of Utah about pole and circus fitness.

I turned on my video camera while they were interviewing Annie Dickson (aerial silk instructor). The ladies of Good Things Utah were asking excellent questions.

Thank you so much for allowing us to share!
