Studio Video's

Devon Flint is back and teaching her regular hip hop class. Check out the progress they made tonight.

Meagan taught chair dancing (while pregnant) last Friday. It's the new dance that we will be learning for the month of February.

Useless studio facts :)

Just in case you were wondering (which I know you were), here are some fun studio facts:

January 2010 students visited class 1,122 times
January 2011 students visited class 1,209 times

February 2010 students visited class 1,561 times
Come on ladies, take lots of classes so we can beat this number!

Studio was founded in April 4th, 2008
Started in a high school dance room until pole dancing was added to the cirriculum. The principal didn't like that so much :)

The Ogden studio alone runs 43 classes every week.

Pole dancing can burn up to 400 calories per hour.

And, the best advertising we have is through referrals from our members . Keep sending your friends and family our way. We promise to make them come out of their shell and have fun while losing weight. Thank you for almost four years in business. Our students keep the program running and I think about you guys every day :)

Sincerely,
Meagan Goodson, Onwer

Shayli is one of our most valuable teachers. She is always going the extra mile to promote the studio. Just a few weeks ago, she was featured on the X96 radio show talking about being a pole dancer.

Thank you Shayli for all you do!!!

Who I found on facebook!

I was visiting various students facebook accounts to see who is posting pictures of themselves on the pole or aerial appparatus. Here's just a few that I found! Post your home and studio pictures on facebook....I just might find them :)

Rana practicing her "Ayesha" at home.

Shay practicing the "Allegra" at the studio.

Trish using her home pole!

Davina rocking the silk at the studio!

Chantel doing the fallen angel at the studio.

Coryne flipping on the silk!

Testimonial...with pictures!

Meagan,

I know this is really cheesy- but since we all know I am a nerd I am sending this anyway. :) I really wanted to say say thank you for finding the courage to open your own studio and provide a great environment for us to come and dance! Thank you really doesn't cover it.

I started taking classes at ADF back at the old studio, mainly hip hop, jazz and kick boxing (since I was too afraid to try pole), and I always had a great time at class. But when you opened Blue last year I decided I needed to great my butt back in shape and really do something for myself. I started the pole and aerial classes last January with the hopes of actually keeping a New Years resolution to loose weight. I have danced my whole life and always been relatively thin- but after I finished college and got married I stopped dancing and gained quite a bit of weight.

Last January, when I started at Blue, I weighed 165LBS- the most i have been at my entire life. I hated the way I looked- but more so- how I felt. Within just a few weeks I started to notice a huge change. I was slowly starting to loose weight and I was gaining muscle definition in my arms, which I never really had before. Blue has helped me find me again. A year later I still love taking the pole and aerial classes. And you have given me a new love with the trapeze!

I adore teaching Hoop and Trap- seeing so many girls struggle the same as I did and I get so excited for them when they accomplish something I know they struggled with. I love that I get to teach my "white girl" hip hop again and you have given me an outlet for all my crazy feelings in Jazz. I have slimmed down to a comfortable 135lbs, and i hope this year I can drop 10lbs more to get to my weight goal. Thank you Thank you Thank you. I love hanging out with all the girls and you and I look forward to our crazy adventures in the future!

you are the best!!

Devon

Self confidence from pole?

Yes ladies, a piece of steel 2 inches in diameter and about 10 feet tall can give you the self confidence you've been lacking. One of my students approached me tonight and told me that she has a father who is a bit of a bullie. She is a 23 year old woman and 2011 was the first year she stood up to him and gave him boundaries when it came to her finances. This is so great to hear!!!

For me, my self confidence helped me be a more confident woman and a confident mother. I have a mom who is always trying to tell me how to parent my child. Since pole, I gained a spine and told her that I love her to pieces and I will consider her parenting suggestions, but at the end of the day it's my decision.

I used to work at a credit union where I let my co-workers boss me around and belittle me just because I didn't share the same religious beliefs they did. I walk in that credit union now a few times a week and look at my old co-workers straigt in the eye with my head held high. Because I keep my business account there, they know what I do for a living and I think it disgusts, but because of the way I carry myself, they know that I demand respect now and I won't entertain the rude comments anymore. These are just a few examples of self confidence given by pole that I wanted to share :) Hopefully many of you have the same stories to tell.

-Meagan, Owner

Here's the info:

Movie: Black Swan
Time: Meet at studio between7:00-7:30 for pole play.
After, we will head over to the movie theatre for a 7:45pm showing.

Cost: $8.50/person

This movie has it all! Dancing for us girls, and horror and drama for the guys.

Portman's Nina is a ballerina at a New York City ballet company who's struggled for years to get recognition, egged on by her pushy mom (Barbara Hershey) whose own ballet dreams never made it far, and consistently diminished by the company's director Tomas (Vincent Cassel), who sneers at Nina as often as he praises her. She's cast as the lead dancer in Swan Lake, which is a double role-- the virginal, doomed White Swan, and the vicious and manipulative Black Swan. Nina's got the White Swan nailed, but her shy demeanor and obsession with perfection keep the Black Swan's sexual and violent edginess just out of reach.

Determined to make it work, Nina tries all kinds of things to get in touch with her inner Black Swan, from allowing Tomas to seduce her to spending a wild night with new ballerina Lily (Mila Kunis), who is as free-spirited as Nina is repressed. All the while Nina experiences some weird stuff, from seeing her own face in that of strangers to a persistent rash on her shoulder blades that looks all the world like a sprouting wing. Things get weirder as the Swan Lake debut grows nearer, and it's less a question of how Nina will be able to embody the Black Swan than how much a toll it will take on a sheltered, fragile girl who has lived her life in New York City but knows no world outside of ballet.

Featured teacher!

This month's featured teacher is Amber Clarke!

Amber has been teaching at the studio for over four years. In fact, she was the first teacher I hired. She always makes class fun for everyone and is constantly updating her dances and keeping things fresh. Through her whole life, she has done it all from jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary, and now burlesque and chair dancing!

Amber is married to her husband of 12 years, Shane, and together they have a five year old son. She is the founder of Cadence Dance Company. She truly lives and breathes dance. You can find Amber in any one of our chair dancing classes that are held Tuesday's 7-8pm or Thursday's 8-9pm.

Boudoir Photography for Valentine's Day!

If you’ve been to the studio lately you may have noticed the photo display in the lobby for Utah Boudoir Photography. The amazing photographer is actually a long time student of the studio and once I saw her gorgeous and tasteful boudoir images, I fell in love and asked if she’d like to put up the display at the studio.

Pictured below is the photographer, Shay Voorhees. She has been a student of the studio for a couple of years and she is one of our most talented pole dancers. She supports the studio whenever she can and I thought it made sense to return the favor and show my students what a fantastic photographer she is :)

Right now she is running some killer Valentine’s Day packages and has agreed to add a bonus exclusively for Blue Students who have ‘Liked’ her Facebook page!!!
