Jazz

I grew up taking lyrical jazz class from Shaw Dance in Clearfield, UT. I fell in love with it. I loved the blend of traditional jazz and classical ballet. In high school, I excelled in jazz and was given a spot on my high school drill team. 6 years later, I was coaching my own drill team and then soon after I opened this studio.

For me, lyrical jazz has always been the root for my love for dance. Without it, I don't know where I would be. My favorite song in high school was called "I hope you dance". Ever since then, I've made it a personal goal to dance every day.

I have added lyrical jazz back into the schedule because I feel it has an important place here at Blue. Yes, we are primarily a pole studio, but I like to think that all styles of dance can happen under this one roof. This is a place for all dancers and all genres of dance.

Look for lyrical jazz class every Friday @ 6:00pm.

I hope to continue adding new and interesting styles of dance. Dance is evolving and so are we!

Dew Tour performance

Last Thursday, our studio was given the opportunity to perform at the Dew Tour after party that was held at the Jibyard. We had so much fun! This was our first public performance using the aerial hoop and the aerial silk. We had many students and teachers who performed. The crowd was great, the atmosphere was ultra cool, and all the dancers looked so so fun. Our goal was to look jungle/glamour. I think we achieved it :)

We are working on booking other venues for our students to perform at. So keep practicing ladies....let's do it again!

Valentine's Day couples date

We did this last year and it was so much fun! We had over 10 couples attend and it was a blast. This year, we will be adding ballroom tricks and dips and also wine and cheese tasting. If you're looking for something different for this years Valentine's Day date, we've got your covered.

Last year we celebrated Sexual Healing and This year I have deemed it the year of the Nurturing Mother. What does that mean? Well, nurturing is the greatest gift mothers give their loved ones, and this year we are going to do more nurturing for ourselves. So, look for our workshops and activities and photoshoots that will help us nurture ourselves and the other women in our lives. We all need a little tender mothering once in a while.

Beauty tips for the poor girl.

As a recently divorced single mom of one, I soon realized that I didn't have the money for all the extra perks. I found myself at the grocery store choosing between bread or make up remover. So, for the past six months I have found myself getting creative. Here are three beauty tips I've learned to save a little dough:

#1 - Use lotion as eye make up remover. Use unscented lotion with a hand towel to easily wipe away your mascara and eyeliner.

#2 - Use your shampoo as shaving gel for legs, under arms, and bikini area. It really works!

#3 - When I apply my mascara, I sometimes miss my eyelash and end up with a glob of mascara on my cheek or eye lid. Don't wipe it! Wait for it to dry and then take a piece of tissue paper and it will come right off.
